RFID INTEGRATION

Radio Frequency Identification, commonly referred to as RFID is an advanced and hi-tech system to identify and transmit the unique identity of an object or person. RFID falls into the broad category of automatic identification technologies. Unlike UPC bar code technology, RFID does not require the direct contact with object and can be read through non-metallic material, human body as well as layer of clothing.

RFID mainly consists of three components:

  • An antenna or coil to signal to activate the tag.
  • A transponder for RF tag which has to be electronically programmed with unique information.
  • A transceiver with a decoder.

The antenna of the RFID system emits radio signals to get the tag activated. The reader of the system emits radio waves to detect the activation signal of the reader, as and when an RFID tag passes through the electromagnetic zone. Finally the reader decodes the data in the tag, integrated with the help of a microchip and passes it over to the host computer to process the requirement as per the application.

The idea behind RFID is to read and enable data to be transmitted by a portable device known as tag or ID to process and action the needs of a particular application to identify, location, person or product. In a typical RFID tag, there is a microchip attached to a radio antenna that is mounted on a substrate. The chip can have the storage capacity of as much as 2 kilobytes of data.

RFID is a system actively used for tracking, manufacturing, supply chain management, retailing, payment systems, Student tracking and also for security and access control. Write-in to us at contact@aquil.net, to know more about RFID Solutions.
